Bio-Origins receives funding for a three-year (2019-2022) project through `The Partnership’, to develop biofibre based compostable and environmentally responsible packaging containers from Ontario sourced agriculture fibre materials for the horticulture and agriculture sectors. This project was funded by the Canadian Agriculture Partnership, a five-year federal-provincial-territorial initiative.

The Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA) supports agri-food and agri-products sectors and for competitiveness by driving innovation and addressing key sector priorities. This funding support to Bio-Origins will address the needs and demands from Ontario's edible horticultural and agriculture sector and consumer pull for biodegradable container products for substituting the single use, non-renewable plastics products.

Bio-Origins thank `The Partnership’, for supporting the project that will help to develop and accelerate for commercialization of innovative biodegradable and/or compostable packaging containers. In the project an emphasis will be placed on collaborative partners working together across the value-chain to accelerate the creation and adoption of innovative solutions that address emerging packaging sector challenges and opportunities that will drive competitiveness and sustainability. This project would help Ontario farmers for value added use of their crops (miscanthus and other biomass) and diversification strengthening the agri-food sector.
